Mobile Industrial Robots (MiR)

MiR is a leading manufacturer of autonomous, collaborative mobile robots, dedicated to developing user-friendly, flexible and safe robots to help companies increase the efficiency of their operations.

MiR’s autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) are a new generation of advanced mobile robots that provide a rapid return on investment, often with a payback period of less than a year. These unique, collaborative robots are used by manufacturers in a wide range of industries and healthcare sectors to automate their in-house transportation. MiR robots are simple to integrate and easy to program, with no need for expensive and disruptive reconfiguration of your infrastructure.

The Long, Long Road of Internal Transport

By the time a manufactured product is ready to be shipped to a customer, it may already have travelled miles, just within its own manufacturing and warehousing environment. Raw materials and components move from the receiving dock to incoming inspection to the warehouse and then to production lines on the manufacturing floor. Sub-assemblies move from one manufacturing and finishing process to another throughout the facility. Eventually, completed products are moved from the factory floor to final quality assurance (QA), then to finished goods warehousing, and out to the shipping dock. Throughout the process, scrap material, packaging, and manufacturing by-products are removed and transported for disposal.

Automation Drives Efficiency and Productivity While Reducing Costs and Risks

For many manufacturers, flexible, adaptable, and safe autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) are optimising workflows throughout manufacturing and warehouse environments. AMRs allow manufacturers to focus workers on high-value activities that directly drive revenue, rather than taking them away from their workstations for low-value tasks such as pushing carts. Integrated AMRs also ensure that material is delivered just-in-time to each stage in the process so that equipment and operators are kept consistently productive. Throughout the manufacturing environment, AMRs address a range of workflows for small and mid-sized manufacturers as well as large manufacturing and distribution centres.

Doubling of Production Capacity at Kamstrup

Kamstrup A/S is a world leading supplier of intelligent energy and water metering solutions. At its manufacturing facility, four MiR100 robots equipped with conveyor top modules, transport semi-finished products and finished products without human intervention. The flexibility of the MiR robots also enabled the company to easily integrate the intralogistics solutions into its ERP system. Kamstrup demonstrated how mobile robots can ensure a seamless flow of goods between static production lines and production cells.

Kamstrup has automated the bulk of its production through the transport robots, which operate continuously to maximize production capacity and keeps its delivery expectation of only 72 hours.

Improve Manufacturing Workflows with MiR Autonomous Mobile Robots

AMRs from MiR meet a wide range of workflow requirements for small to very large manufacturers. Companies can easily start with a proof-of-concept, implementing one or two robots in specific areas or to support a limited number of processes or production lines. Unlike automated guided vehicles (AGVs) or conveyor systems, AMRs can be easily reprogrammed, reconfigured with different top modules, and redeployed as needed. Once the initial system has been proven, it can be easily scaled to manage material transport workflows throughout the facility.
