Graphene Field-Effect Transistors: Transforming Next-Generation Medical Diagnostics
Abstract
Graphene Field-Effect Transistors (GFETs) are emerging as a revolutionary platform for next-generation medical diagnostics, offering ultra-sensitive, label-free, and real-time detection of disease biomarkers. In this talk, we will explore the superior capabilities of GFET biosensors compared to traditional diagnostic methods such as ELISA and Single Molecule Array (Simoa), with a focus on their applications in Point-of-Care (PoC) settings. We will present an example using the recent advancements in GFET-based detection of Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein (GFAP)—a key biomarker for traumatic brain injury and neurodegenerative diseases—we will discuss the device’s unparalleled sensitivity (as low as 231 fg/mL in plasma), rapid response time (<15 minutes), and cost-effectiveness. This presentation will be tailored for semiconductor professionals in the MedTech industry, highlighting how graphene technology is poised to disrupt biosensing and clinical diagnostics. Join us to explore the future of semiconductor-driven healthcare innovations!
