Co-founder, President, and CEO/CTO INVIZA® Health
"Dr. Robert Andosca, with an impressive 35-year tenure in the Internet of Things (IoT), MEMS/sensors, and semiconductor industries, is the visionary Co-founder, CEO, and CTO of INVIZA® Corporation (d.b.a. INVIZA® Health), a MedTech pioneer based in Cambridge, MA. INVIZA is at the forefront of introducing concealed, self-powered wearable activity trackers and innovative mobile applications for health, fitness, and safety for medical and military markets.
A fervent advocate for the fusion of cutting-edge technologies, Dr. Andosca excels in building dynamic teams and forging strategic partnerships, especially in the realms of MEMS/sensors and energy harvesting. His expertise spans mechanical/electromagnetic, piezoelectric, thermal, and photovoltaic technologies, crucial for IoT and wearable devices.
Dr. Andosca's diverse professional background encompasses C-level, operational, and engineering management roles, alongside business development and strategic marketing. He is notably the founder and former CEO/CTO of MicroGen Systems Inc., where he led the transition of piezo-MEMS vibration energy harvesters to high-volume manufacturing and spearheaded the development of self-powered IoT products, including an innovative tire-pressure monitoring system for Class 8 commercial trucks.
Dr. Andosca’s career also includes senior positions at notable organizations like Advanced Energy, Smart Systems & Technology Center, and Lockheed Martin, among others. He contributes his knowledge as an adjunct professor at Rochester Institute of Technology’s Mechanical Engineering Department.
Holding a Ph.D. in Materials Science / Physics and Electrical Engineering from The University of Vermont, Dr. Andosca’s groundbreaking dissertation on piezo-MEMS energy harvesting devices was recognized as a ScienceDirect Top 25 paper in 2012 and has since been cited 209 times by other scientific journal articles. It theoretically and experimentally shows that low dielectric constant “Low-K” piezoelectric material, aluminum nitride (AlN) is far superior to the industry go-to material, lead-zirconate-titanate (PZT) for energy harvesting and sensor applications. He also holds an M.S. in Materials Science and B.S. degrees in Mathematics and Physics.
An influential figure in the MEMS / sensor community, cited by EE Times as one of ‘Twelve Shakers and Movers in MEMS’. Dr. Andosca has been featured in prestigious publications and has contributed extensively to scientific literature, with numerous patents and publications to his name. A sought-after speaker, he has shared his insights on global stages, advocating for advancements in IoT, MEMS/sensors, energy harvesting, and wearable technology."
