Ambassador, Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Vietnam

Ambassador Kees van Baar began his tenure in Vietnam since September 2022. Prior to that, he was the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in South Sudan, then Human Rights Ambassador, and most recently Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Palestine.

Starting his career at the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1989, he also worked in Zambia, Russian Federation, Indonesia, Kenya (as Vice Ambassador, then Country Director of Pharm Access), and at the Ministry’s Headquarter (as Deputy Head of the Office of the Secretary General). 

Ambassador van Baar graduated in 1988 with a Master degree in History, International Relations & Development Economics at University of Amsterdam and a Bachelor degree in Tropical Land & Water Management at Wageningen University.
