Driving Growth in Russia
The government in Russia continues to support the information technology sector, including semiconductor, LED/SSL and photovoltaic initiatives. Russia's state strategy is aimed at building a strong, innovative economy. Currently, in addition to three major and seven second tier ongoing semiconductor manufacturing projects in Russia, eight investment ventures now under consideration by Rusnano for funding. These projects include semiconductors and PV (Polysilicon, solar cells and modules). What Russia needs is a platform for technological information exchange that, over time, will enable Russia's IC industry to progress to advanced levels of manufacturing...

Coming off of two successive negative years for the semiconductor industry, 2010 provided a much needed and welcomed turn of events; device revenues increased 32 percent, materials revenues grew 25 percent, and the new equipment market grew a record 148 percent.
