SEMI Members Earn the Majority of Intel Supplier Awards

Last month Intel announced the 2013 winners of their Preferred Quality Supplier (PQS) and Supplier Continuous Quality Improvement (SCQI) Awards. Winners of these awards stand out from the thousands of Intel supply-chain partners by demonstrating industry-leading commitment. Intel distinguishes these suppliers as world class among their greater supply chain, which includes capital equipment manufacturer’ and providers of materials, components and services.

The Intel Supplier Continuous Quality Improvement (SCQI) Award is recognized as Intel's most prestigious award for suppliers. Qualification and performance standards are extremely high, requiring a score of 95 percent or greater on the Intel integrated report card that tracks supplier performance throughout the year. The list of critical focus areas upon which each company’s performance is based include quality, cost, availability, technology, customer service, labor and ethics systems, and environmental sustainability — six of the eight  2013 SCQI recipients were SEMI members:

  • Cabot Microelectronics Corporation: CMP slurries and CMP pads
  • Hitachi High-Technologies Corporation: dry etching, ashing, metrology and advanced packaging systems
  • JSR Corporation*: advanced photoresists, packaging materials and CMP consumables
  • Murata Manufacturing Co. Ltd.: multilayer ceramic capacitors, inductors and electromagnetic interference components
  • Senju Metal Industry Co. Ltd.: soldering material (solder sphere, flux, paste, bar, wire)
  • SUMCO Corporation: 200mm and 300mm epitaxial and polished silicon wafers

As part of Intel’s Supplier Continuous Quality Improvement (SCQI) program, the PQS award recognizes supply-chain partners who continually improve and innovate while scoring 80 percent or greater on the Intel integrated report card.

Fourteen of the 18 Preferred Quality Supplier (PQS) Awards for 2013 were given to SEMI members —  for demonstrating industry leading commitment across the areas of technology, affordability, velocity, quality, customer services, ethics systems and environmental sustainability. The SEMI members receiving the 2013 Intel PQS award are:

  • Applied Materials: wafer fab capital equipment, mask capital equipment, fab automation SW and services
  • Amkor Technology Inc.: wafer probe, wafer bump, assembly, final testing
  • ASML: semiconductor lithography equipment
  • Daifuku Co. Ltd.: automated transport and storage of WIP
  • Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co. Ltd.: wafer cleaning and anneal equipment and services for semiconductor manufacturing
  • Fujifilm Electronic Materials: formulated chemicals, developers, precursors, slurries and advanced photoresists
  • Hitachi Kokusai Electric Inc.: deposition and thermal film manufacturing equipment
