PV Taiwan/PVSEC-23 Event Wrap-Up

This year over 8,000 visitors from 24 countries attended the PV Taiwan 2013 exhibition and forum. With an increasing number of PV projects in the pipeline worldwide, the show floor traffic was alive with business dealings. PV Taiwan 2013 is jointly organized by TAITRA (the Taiwan External Trade Development Council), SEMI and TPVIA.

At the Executive Summit, themed “Creating New Business Opportunities Through Policy Changes and Industry Collaboration” we were honored to gather Dr. P. H. Chang, CEO, Motech Industries, Dr. Shawn Qu, Chairman & CEO, Canadian Solar Inc., Mr. Woo Hyun Lee, President, OCI Company Ltd., Dr. Wen-whe Pan, President & COO, GINTECH Energy Corporation, and Mr. Andy Shen, President, Neo Solar Power Corporation to share their perspectives on how to create new business opportunities through policy changes and industry collaboration.

HCPV Pavilion

Exhibitors at this year’s HCPV Pavilion, including AVC, Green Source Technology, Institute of Nuclear Energy Research, MH Solar, Taicrystal International Technology and more, presented Taiwan's advanced HCPV technologies and modules in the perfect venue for discovering new HCPV partnerships.  (HCPV (High Concentrated Photovoltaic) has numerous advantages including less consumption of battery materials, lower costs and higher efficiency in generating electricity.)

DSSC Pavilion

  • DSSC (Dye-Sensitized Solar Cell) provides a number of distinct advantages over other photovoltaic solar technologies, which include higher power output and lower cost under high volume manufacturing.
  • Fuji Chimera Research Institute forecasted DSSC market will reach 235MW, as a total of $ 200 million dollars of the production value by 2014.
  • PV Taiwan provided Everlight Chemical, King Design a venue to present advanced DSSC technologies and applications.

PV Systems Pavilion

  • PV Systems Pavilion gathered more than 20 domestic and foreign companies, including AUO, CSI Technology, LTi REEnergy, SIC.
  • The first year of PV System Pavilion helps the Government perform PV applications and promotions both in domestic and overseas markets.

Procurement Meeting

  • International buyers arranged procurement meetings. These 30-minite discussions are focused on potential business opportunities between sellers and buyers.
  • Total of 16 invited buyers from 8 countries conducted 131 meetings with exhibitors.

Next year, with the market trend of renewable energy, PV Taiwan 2014 will create Processing Equipment & Materials Area, Energy Storage Pavilion, Testing and Reliability Pavilion and Solar Thermal Pavilion to fulfill increased requirements from the industry.

PVSEC-23, co-located with PV Taiwan 2013

PVSEC-23, a technical conference, was held in Taiwan for the first time and included luminary speakers such as Professor Martin Green from University of New South Wales and Dr. Makoto Konagai from Tokyo Institute of Technology, among others.  Continuing the enormous success of this technical conference will be the PV Technologies Symposium at PV Taiwan 2014.

PVSEC-23 Poster Session

  • The Poster Section at PVSEC-23 provided an excellence chance for exchange of ideas between industry and research institutes.
  • The Program Committee was proud to announce that more than 500 abstracts from 25 countries were submitted to PVSEC-23, including participation from DuPont, IBM, NREL, Motech, Gintech NSP, TSMA Solar, Topper Solar, NexPower, Win Win Precision, ITRI, INER, and Academia Sinica.
