FROM THE SEMI EUROPE PRESIDENT
Commercializing KETS: Let's Build Momentum Now
Virtually everyone in our industry in Europe is now familiar with the European Commission's concept of Key Enabling Technologies (KETs). It is common knowledge that the European Union faces growing and overwhelming global competition from both developed and emerging economies. But just knowing about KETs and being concerned is not enough. To secure the future now, and for generations to come, we must strategize.
That's why I want to talk to you about the upcoming 6th SEMI Brussels Forum, which takes place on May 22. The forum will focus on two issues: the challenges in the commercialization of key enabling technologies and speeding the implementation of the recommendations made by the EC's High Level Expert Group (HLG). LED Makers Look at Alternative Substrates, Automation and Yield to Drive SSL Economics By Paula Doe, SEMI Emerging Markets LED utilization rates are picking up again, with utilization in Taiwan now back up to 70 to 90 percent of capacity. Companies expect to be back to close to 100 percent in a month or two, driven by TV backlight demand, reports Yole Développement senior analyst Eric Virey.
3D-IC Challenges Addressed at SEMICON Singapore Singapore is a well-established manufacturing and business hub in Southeast Asia. The island country's remarkable GDP growth increased from $20 billion in 1980 to more than $300 billion in 2010.
