On September 7, during the Beijing International Microelectronics Symposium (BIMS) 2017, president of SEMI China Lung Chu announced the official establishment of the SEMI Innovation Investment Forum (SIIF China) and the new SEMI Innovation Investment Advisory Committee.
The SIIF kickoff event included SEMI president and CEO Ajit Manocha, SEMI China president Lung Chu, president of China National Semiconductor Industry Investment Fund Ding Wenwu, director of IMECAS Ye Tianchun, Tsinghua University professor Wei Shaojun, deputy director of Beijing Commission of Economy and Information Technology Jiang Guangzhi, deputy director of the Major Projects Office of the Ministry of Science and Technology Ms. Qiu Gang, deputy director of the Electronic Information Department of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology Peng Hongbing, vice chairman of China Semiconductor Industry Association Xu Xiaotian, deputy director of Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area Management Committee Chen Xiaonan, and more, attended the official launch of SIIF.
At the BIMS event, the SEMI Innovation Investment Forum (SIIF China) featured major companies and investment executives sharing their insights on global semiconductor industry investment, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and innovation development trends. More than 400 semiconductor industry and investment professionals from China and other countries participated in the forum. With presentations and networking opportunities, SIIF China is one of the most influential China-focused platforms ─ where markets, technology, talent, and funding meet.
The SEMI Innovation Investment Advisory Committee will formulate platform strategy and development direction, assist in promoting platform operation, contribute resources to facilitate platform growth, promote industry innovation development and investment integration, and boost healthy and rapid development of China's semiconductor industry.
SEMI president and CEO Ajit Manocha said that SEMI has been helping members prosper through communities, platforms and activities, including expositions, conferences, and international standards. The semiconductor industry is experiencing rapid development, and China is the fastest-growing region. Investment in China's semiconductor industry is a hot topic for everyone, and SIIF China will further promote industry innovative development and investment integration.
Lung Chu stressed that SIIF China will organize a series of opportunities for learning and networking such as seminars, international investment forums, and also accelerate industry innovation development and investment integration, building an investment and financing platform for professionals committed to China's semiconductor industry.
