Materion has increased its global capacity for manufacturing planar and rotary targets to strengthen our commitment to customers in the large area glass coating industry. The new capabilities are a result of the March 2017 acquisition of the Heraeus target materials business in Hanau, Germany. In addition, Materion has just opened an expanded facility in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This location will consolidate Materion operations with Heraeus’ large area glass target manufacturing from its previous site in Arizona to better serve the growing North American market.
Meanwhile in Germany, the groundbreaking for the construction of a new state-of-the art facility in Alzenau is a major step toward Materion’s goal of meeting the need for precious and non-precious target materials for the architectural and automotive glass, photovoltaic, display and semiconductor markets in Europe, Asia and the United States.
Grand Opening – Expansion in Albuqerque
A ribbon-cutting ceremony initiated the opening of Materion Advanced Materials new facility in Albuquerque, NM on June 14. The expansion involved consolidating Materion’s existing operations with that of Heraeus’ large area glass target manufacturing adding 25% capacity to the site and expanded capabilities such as rotatable target manufacturing. The Albuquerque site complete with new equipment will be manufacturing a new suite of large area glass target materials, particularly silver and other metals, compounds and alloys.
Global Milestone – Construction in Alzenau
A groundbreaking ceremony June 27 celebrated the future home of Materion Advanced Materials Germany GmbH in Alzenau. The 10,000 square meter building will provide a larger production area for increased capacity and state-of-the-art equipment for optimization of material flow. The timeline calls for the new facility to be ready for occupancy by December of this year.
The location in Europe expands Materion’s global presence. While construction proceeds, Materion is serving existing and new customers from the existing operations in Hanau, Germany.
