Dr. Alex Gu is the Programs Director of Sensors, Actuators, and Microsystems Program & Miniaturised Medical Devices Program, at the A*STAR’s Institute of Microelectronics (IME). He spent 10 years in the Honeywell Sensors and Wireless Lab as a principal research scientist before joining IME. His industrial research covers broad areas which include chemical and biosensors, ultrasound, chip-level thermal management, chip-level vacuum systems and deeply miniaturised medical equipments.

Alex was the principal investigator and/or program manager for various externally funded research programs totalling >$15M during his 10-year tenure with Honeywell. He has authored over 20 research publications and holds 20+ patents. He received his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics and M.E.E in Electrical Engineering, both from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, U.S.A. in 2003.
