Solomon NG was born in Singapore and graduated from National University of Singapore in 1986 with a First Class Honors degree in Electronic Engineering and in 1994, a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the same University.
After graduation, he spent 6 years at Intersil in USA and Singapore as an Integrated Circuit Design Engineer. In 1992, NG joined STMicroelectronics Singapore as a Design Manager. He was instrumental in the design of ST’s first ever Power Combo IC product design with a major hard disk drive company.
In 1996, NG became the China Design Center Director and was responsible for setting up ST first Design Center (Shenzhen) operation in China. In 2002, NG set up the joint Application Specific IC Research Center with Tsinghua University Graduate School. In 2004, NG set up another Design Center in Shanghai and in 2006, started Design activity in Beijing.
NG holds more than 12 patents and participated in more than 100 product designs.
Since October 2006, NG has been the Regional Director of Strategic Planning, Business Development and Design Centers of ST Greater China & South Asia Region. His responsibilities cover regional strategies, aerospace & military business development, medical & wearable business development, new application development, emerging market development, strategic programs, governmental and institutional liaison, market intelligence & analysis, campus programs, R&D funding and IC product design.
