Managing Supply Chain Risks: A Supplier’s View
SAFC Hitech (a division of Sigma Aldrich) is a part of the Semiconductor materials supply chain from basic research to high volume manufacture. Despite the recent trend of consolidation of Semiconductor manufacturers, the inverse applies to the supply chain risk for future nodes. The expansion to customized products by layer, introduction of new novel materials like ALD precursors, and continued lack of transparency between the various sub-suppliers continues to stress the overall supply chain and increase the risk of quality failures. A case study of a chemical precursor will be used to highlight these risks and discuss how they can be mitigated.
