Matt Gertken is a PhD candidate and Churchill Scholar at the University of Texas-Austin. He studies the intersection of British literature, history and geopolitics, specifically debates on balance-of-power foreign policy at the dawn of the British Empire. He recently co-authored a report on China’s 2012-13 leadership transition for BCA Research. From 2008-11 he worked as Senior Asia-Pacific Analyst for Stratfor.com. He has appeared on Fox Business News, Bloomberg Television, CNBC Asia, and in a variety of radio programs and online news articles. He holds a master’s degree from University of Cambridge and a bachelor’s from University of Kansas.
