Mr. Hutchinson is a Managing Director and Head of the Technology Group for Houlihan Lokey.  He is based in San Francisco and specializes in Technology Mergers and Acquisitions, including exclusive sales, public company divestitures, leveraged buyouts, defensive advisories and fairness opinions. He has been an M&A banker his entire career and has advised public and private clients worth $100 million to $25 billion on numerous mergers, acquisitions and other strategic transactions.

Mr. Hutchinson’s recent noteworthy advisory assignments at Houlihan Lokey include Foundry Networks, Macrovision, SSA Global, SeeBeyond, SimpleTech, Riverstone, WebEx, Tekelec and ADC Communications. He has also sold businesses recently to Oracle, SAP, Sun Microsystems, Amazon, ON Semiconductor, Lucent Technologies and Microsoft.  He advised on the sale of Advanced Power Technologies to Microsemi, which was awarded the Middle-Market Technology M&A Deal of the Year by M&A Advisor.

Before joining Houlihan Lokey, Mr. Hutchinson was a managing director with Piper Jaffray, where he led its Technology M&A group, advising such clients as Intersil, Avid Technology, Sage, National Semiconductor, Sybase and Skyworks. He was also a managing director for the Technology M&A group at Merrill Lynch, where he advised such clients as Solectron, Novellus Systems, Cisco Systems, Sanmina and KLA-Tencor. Earlier, he was with Montgomery Securities, where he was a member of the firm’s fairness opinion commitment committee.

Mr. Hutchinson earned a B.A. from Tufts University, an associate degree from Oxford University and a J.D. from Emory University. He lectures frequently on Technology M&A, and he is registered with FINRA as a General Securities Principal (Series 7, 24 and 63) and a Limited Representative – Investment Banking (Series 79).
