Keynote Abstract

Emerging Technology as a category casts a wide net.  This talk will explore the portion that is related to silicon processing that provides the basis of various data path solutions in the memory space.  Two general areas will be discussed: silicon processing and package level processing.  The momentum of the memory space flywheel is presently based on the electron charge.  At the silicon level, the alternative candidates are not and therefore have the potential to introduce new materials interaction challenges.  At the package level, such as the Hybrid Memory Cube, there are potential challenges regardless of the cell choice within the silicon.  Using published examples, some of the consequences will be introduced as a means to stimulate new thought processes about future materials and chemistry needs.
