Burton “Buddy” Nicoson is the Vice President of Manufacturing for Samsung Austin Semiconductor (“SAS”).

A native of nearby Round Rock, Texas, Buddy is a 25 year veteran of Austin’s semiconductor industry. After completing his college football career in the early 1980s, Buddy returned to Austin and started his working career with Faulkner Construction Co., building semiconductor fabrication plants. From Faulkner Construction, Buddy transitioned to Advanced Micro Devices (“AMD”) where he held positions of increasing responsibility within AMD’s manufacturing organization. In 1989, Buddy was lured away from AMD and back to Round Rock by Cypress Semiconductor. After eight year at Cypress, during which Buddy was promoted to  head of manufacturing at Cypress’s Round Rock Fab, Samsung recruited Buddy away to help start up of SAS’s Fab 1 in 1997.

Throughout Buddy’s thirteen year career at SAS, he has headed up virtually every organization within the company. In February of 2009, Buddy’s role expanded from leading the manufacturing operations for SAS’s DRAM Fab, to overseeing all aspects of SAS’s manufacturing operations, including SAS’s state of the art 12 inch NAND Flash Fab. Buddy was named Vice President of Manufacturing for SAS in January of 2010.
