Dean Freeman is a Research VP in Gartner Research, where he is part of the Semiconductor Internet of Things Center of Excellence. He is responsible for tracking intelligent lighting and semiconductor manufacturing as they pertain to the Internet of Things. In addition to the IoT, Mr. Freeman tracks semiconductor equipment, trends in IC manufacturing techniques, and emerging semiconductor technology, which includes nanotechnology, LEDs and printed electronics.
Mr. Freeman has more than 27 years of experience in the semiconductor industry, having worked with Texas Instruments, Lam Research, FSI International and Watkins-Johnson's Semiconductor Equipment Group. His experience includes positions in product and process development, operations, marketing, product management, and business development.
The Internet of Things has been widely hyped as the next big thing for the semiconductor industry: However, the bulk of the IoT devices will be manufactured on legacy silicon.
