SEMI Reports First Quarter 2011 Worldwide Semiconductor Equipment Figures; Billings US$ 12 Billion
SAN JOSE, Calif. – June 14, 2011 – SEMI, the global industry association for companies that supply manufacturing technology and materials to the world’s chip makers, today reported that worldwide semiconductor manufacturing equipment billings reached $12.00 billion in the first quarter of 2011. The billings figure is 1% percent higher than the fourth quarter of 2010 and 61% higher than the same quarter a year ago. The data is gathered in jointly with the Semiconductor Equipment Association of Japan (SEAJ) from over 100 global equipment companies that provide data on a monthly basis.
Worldwide semiconductor equipment bookings were US$11.08 billion in the first quarter of 2011. The figure is 18% more than the same quarter a year ago and 11% lower than the bookings figure for the fourth quarter of 2010.
