SEMI PV Group today announced that leading thin-film manufacturers and suppliers, researchers, scientists, policy makers and other industry stakeholders will discuss key manufacturing challenges at the second annual North American PV Fab Managers Forum (PV FMF). The event will be held at Intersolar North America 2011 in San Francisco, California on July 11, 2011. Successfully held in both Europe and U.S., the unique event format brings key stakeholders together in an informative yet collaborative, problem-solving setting – intended to accelerate industry dialog, research priorities, best practices, and global sourcing.
“The forum will bring together CIGS and CdTe manufacturers with equipment and materials suppliers to identify critical issues in thin-film manufacturing, and to determine meaningful action items that stimulate industry-wide collaboration and attention,” said Bettina Weiss, executive director, SEMI PV Group. “The ultimate goal of these continuing efforts is to drive down manufacturing cost, reduce process inefficiencies and enable a streamlined, scaleable production of solar panels. In the spirit of collaboration, we are pleased to give the audience a first-hand introduction to the PV Manufacturing Consortium directly from the DOE award recipients.”
The full spectrum of stakeholders will discuss the global and U.S. market, thin-film R&D and manufacturing (CIGS, CdTe, a-Si), supplier challenges, PV equipment and materials market, materials supplier perspectives, and module quality and reliability. Speakers from these companies will present: DuPont, First Solar, KLA-Tencor, NREL, Oerlikon Solar, Schiller LLC, and Stion (partial list).
The North American PV Fab Managers Forum at Intersolar North America is in its second year and follows the successful fifth annual European PV Fab Managers Forum. The most recent European PV Fab Managers Forum, held in March 2011, featured the release of the International Technology Roadmap for Photovoltaics (ITRPV). The Roadmap identifies and targets critical technology needs and cost reduction goals for PV materials, manufacturing methods and processes.
This event is designed for executives and senior staff in PV equipment, materials, cell and module companies; R&D, scientists; business development experts, managers, scientists and experts from the photovoltaic industry, research and academic organizations.
