The SEMI Pacific Northwest High-Tech U Program and Other High-Tech Educational Initiatives are multi-day “camps" which introduce students and teachers to the semiconductor industry and the career options it offers. This award-winning program was launched in March 2001 at LSI Logic in Gresham, Oregon. Since then, Institutes have been held locally at Intel, WaferTech, IDT, Wacker Siltronic and Novellus. Chip Camps are now being held nationally and are funded through the SEMI Education Foundation.
