SEMI® Silicon Valley Lunch Forum Presents –
The 13th Annual Silicon Valley Forecast Luncheon
Date: Wednesday, August 25, 2010
Santa Clara Marriott
2700 Mission College Blvd, Santa Clara, CA
Semiconductor sales are booming, equipment sales are strong, materials are in high demand so why is there still a feeling that this recovery will be short-lived. Is there a double dip in the forecast? How will the overall economics of our nation and the world affect the semiconductor industry? Why in the midst of the one most formidable recoveries we have seen in the last 20 years do we still feel like the other shoe has to drop?
Come to the Silicon Valley Lunch Forum’s 13th annual Forecast lunch on August 25 at the Santa Clara Marriott Hotel to find the answers.
The presentation will look at IC unit volume shipment trends to determine if there is an inventory build underway. The latest semiconductor industry capital spending trends will be analyzed to determine if the industry is overspending and creating too much capacity. IC Insights will examine where the semiconductor industry currently resides on the IC industry cycle and present its forecast through 2011.
John Housley, Techcet Group: the materials perspective. Find out which materials are in short supply; what price pressure is doing to the materials supply chain; and which materials may be the most profitable in the future. John has over 40 years experience in semiconductor materials and his perspective is unique among the very few analysts that follow the materials market.
There is no question that 2010 will be a record growth year, but what about 2011? Concerns are mounting that the economic recovery may be faltering, that semiconductor output is running ahead of electronics demand, and that inventories are starting to grow again. In this presentation, Mr. Johnson will look at what Gartner currently expects for next year as the industry moves into a more normal longer term growth patterns.
