SEMI Networking Day – Italy Event to Focus on Latest Advances in MEMS Technology

GRENOBLE, France – July 31, 2013 – SEMI today announced a Networking Day in Castelletto, Italy on September 26 that will focus the latest advances in MEMS technology.  Hosted by worldwide MEMS leader STMicroelectronics, this event will feature speakers addressing critical developments, trends and challenges in MEMS technologies and MEMS products.

Driven by consumer markets and mainly by cell phone products, the MEMS market is expected to continue to grow by 12-13 percent through 2018 to reach US$ 22 billion MEMS market (Yole Developpement). The MEMs market is undergoing rapid change as new applications reach high volume, new advances in manufacturing technology emerge, and new fabless MEMs companies and foundries grow into larger industry roles.

ST will be glad to host the SEMI Tech Day on MEMS Technology. ST Castelletto is the  birthplace of ST’s success story on MEMS and  this workshop will bring MEMS science to the heart of MEMS industrial success,  said Roberto Zaffalon, R&D and Public Affairs at STMicroelectronics. The Networking Tech Seminar Day will combine talks from people and companies that influence the industry and provide several networking opportunities throughout the course of the day, especially during the Speed Networking Session and social evening events.

Presentations from Yole Développment (France), one of the most respected forecasting and technology MEMS companies worldwide, will describe the technology landscape and history, as well as market and key trends. Additional speakers from Fraunhofer IZM, Suss MicroTec, Microcontrol Electronics will discuss recent technology advances and critical barriers to continued cost reduction.

We are pleased to present this MEMS Tech Seminar with speakers from the key European actors who design, manufacture and sell MEMS all over the world. The pilot Line Lab4MEMS will be also introduced to the audience by ST as a concrete results of the KET’s (Key Enabling Technologies) working groups delivering a positive messages to equipment and materials companies,” said Heinz Kundert, SEMI Europe president.

The full event agenda is online and registration is open. Sponsorship packages are available.

SEMI Networking Days are a SEMI Europe initiative to support start-ups, SMEs, laboratories and large companies and to get “up to date” on hot topics that rise interest of people across the semiconductor supply chain. The Networking Days, held on a quarterly basis in industrial sites, are prime events to connect with the people who influence the industry and to initiate preliminary partnership and business relationships. The Networking Days are open to anyone and free-of-charge for SEMI member companies.
