Press Release: First Quarter 2013 Worldwide Semiconductor Equipment Figures; Billings US$ 7.31 Billion
The billings figure is 8 percent higher than the fourth quarter of 2012 and 32 percent lower than the same quarter a year ago.

Article:  Fab Equipment Spending Expected to Improve with 2% in 2013
The fab equipment spending will grow two percent year-over-year (US$ 32.5 billion) for 2013 and 23 to 27 percent in 2014 ($41 billion) according to the May edition of the SEMI World Fab Forecast.

Press Release: Slight Decrease in First Quarter 2013 Silicon Wafer Shipments
Total silicon wafer area shipments were 2,128 million square inches during the most recent quarter, a 1.6 percent decrease from the 2,162 million square inches shipped during the previous quarter. New quarterly total area shipments are 4.8 percent higher than first quarter 2012 shipments.

Article: Semiconductor Photomask Market: Forecast $3.5 Billion in 2014
The worldwide semiconductor photomask market was $3.2 billion in 2012 and is forecast to reach $3.5 billion in 2014. After reaching a market peak in 2011, the photomask market contracted 4 percent in 2012.  The mask market is expected to grow 3 percent and another 3 percent sequentially over the next two years.

Press Release: 4Q’12 Worldwide Photovoltaic Equipment Market Statistics Report
Worldwide bookings, which represent net new orders for PV manufacturing equipment, improved 1 percent in Q4’12 compared to the previous quarter; however, Q4’12 bookings were down 48 percent year-over-year. Worldwide billings contracted 15 percent in Q4’12 versus Q3’12. On a year-over-year basis, Q4’12 billings declined 39 percent.

2012 started out quite promising, but ended up with decreased bookings, billings, and shipment activity. Semiconductor revenues declined, along with new equipment and semiconductor materials markets.

The global semiconductor materials market decreased 2 percent in 2012 compared to 2011 while worldwide semiconductor revenues declined 3 percent. Revenues of $47.11 mark the first decline in the semiconductor materials market in three years.

Press Release: SEMI Reports 2012 Global Semiconductor Equipment Sales of $36.9 Billion.  Spending rates declined for all the regions tracked in the WWSEMS report, except for Korea and Taiwan. Taiwan surpassed North America as the region with the highest amount of spending with $9.53 billion in equipment sales.

Press Release:  Silicon Wafer Revenues Decline in 2012
Silicon wafer area shipments in 2012 totaled 9,031 million square inches (MSI), down from the 9,043 million square inches shipped during 2011.

Press Release: SEMI Releases Third Quarter 2012 Worldwide Photovoltiac Equipment Market Statistics Report
Worldwide booking remained essentially flat in the third quarter when compared to the previous quarter. The $234 million in bookings is 56 percent below the third quarter of 2011.
