On President Obama's 100th day in office, SEMI member companies met in Washington to press government officials to increase their commitment to policies promoting innovation in the United States. At the SEMI 2009 Washington Forum (April 29), over 20 industry executives met with more than two dozen policymakers. (more)
Solar Energy/PV
Given the industry's growing involvement in PV manufacturing and the rise in new energy-related government initiatives, two teams were dedicated to solar energy/PV lobbying issues. They met with officials from the Department of Energy, the House Energy and Commerce Committee, and Members of Congress. (more)

Mandatory Greenhouse Gas Reporting Rule
On March 10, a proposed Mandatory Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Reporting Rule was signed by the EPA Administrator. The proposed rule will apply to facilities that directly emit GHGs and to suppliers of fossil fuels and industrial GHGs.
Students Study Solar: High Tech U Lights the Way
Students got a first-hand view of real-world applications for solar energy technologies. During the new solar module, students broke into groups and were "hired" by a fictional company.
