SEMI Expands Exposition with Introduction of Singapore Pavilion, Meet and Match Session and SEMICON Singapore Stage

SINGAPORE – 1 May 2006 – SEMI today unveiled new elements of its SEMICON Singapore exposition, which will take place 9-11 May, 2006 at the Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre Suntec Singapore. The new features of the exposition this year are the Singapore Pavilion, an Israeli trade delegation, and a dedicated new stage for companies to introduce their latest technologies. In addition, Dr. Simon Wang, senior vice president and CTO of Chartered Semiconductor, will deliver a keynote speech during the wafer processing session of the SEMI Technology Symposium (STS) on Wednesday, 10 May.

In its inaugural year, the Singapore Pavilion represents a joint venture between SEMI Singapore and the Singapore Manufacturers’ Federation (SMa). The Singapore Pavilion is designed to highlight the collaborative efforts between SEMI Singapore and the local industrial association, as well as enhance and increase new business opportunities within the region. Eleven local exhibitors will participate in the pavilion.

With over 70 design houses and increasing investment by chip and equipment manufacturers, Israel is attracting increasing interest within the semiconductor industry. SEMICON Singapore is addressing this interest this year through a”meet and match” session between local businesses and Israeli delegates. The full-day session is a joint venture between the Embassy of Israel, Israel Export & International Cooperation Institute, Chinese American Semiconductor Professional Association (CASPA) and SEMI.

This session is designed to bridge collaboration between Singapore-based fabs, equipment manufacturers, distributors and Israeli semiconductor companies.

Developers and manufacturers of semiconductors and equipment for the semiconductor component industry make up an important part of the electronics sector in Israel. By incorporating cutting-edge technology applications, such as nanotechnology, electro-optics and laser-based technologies, Israeli companies stand at the forefront of global R&D efforts.

SEMI will also be sponsoring a dedicated Singapore Stage, located in level four of the SEMI Theatre, which will allow exhibitors to introduce and discuss their latest products and technologies in 20 minute segments.

“The semiconductor industry in Southeast Asia is experiencing renewed growth and diversification,” said George C.T. Lin, president of SEMI Southeast Asia. “By offering these new shows elements including the Singapore Pavilion, meet and match session and the Singapore Stage, SEMI continues to help industry participants extend their reach and build productive new business relationships on a global scale.”
