ANDRÉ-JACQUES AUBERTON-HERVÉ APPOINTED TO SEMI BOARD
SAN JOSE, Calif., July 25, 2005 -- SEMI today announced the appointment of André-Jacques Auberton-Hervé to its International Board of Directors. Auberton-Hervé was unanimously elected by the 20 voting members of the association's board at its recent annual policy and planning meeting.
"André-Jacques Auberton-Hervé is a recognized technological pioneer and a champion of our industry," said Stanley Myers, president and CEO of SEMI. "His experience, vision and capability make him an excellent choice to join other prominent industry leaders in representing the interests of our membership and directing the activities of our global association."
SEMI strives to have a board composition that is generally proportional to the regional distribution of its worldwide membership of equipment and materials companies. Auberton-Hervé's appointment fills an opening for a European representative.
André-Jacques Auberton-Hervé co-founded Soitec with Jean-Michel Lamure in 1992, and currently serves as President and CEO. Prior to founding Soitec, Dr. Auberton-Hervé managed joint development programs between Leti and Thomson-CSF. Dr. Auberton-Hervé is a member of the Electrochemical Society and the IEEE. Dr. Auberton-Hervé has a Ph.D. in semiconductor physics and an M.S. in materials science from Ecole Centrale de Lyon (France). In 1999, he received the European SEMI Award in recognition of his work on the Smart Cut™ technology and his contribution to the semiconductor industry.
