Longford Receives SEMI Europe Standards Award for 2005

Award Honors the Contributions of Standards Volunteers

Munich, Germany, 12 April 2005 – Andy Longford, a consultant specializing in IC packaging and test, was honored with the SEMI Europe Standards Honor Award for 2005. The award was presented during a reception at the SEMICON Europa 2005 exposition here last night.

"Standards volunteers like Andy Longford are the lifeblood of the SEMI International Standards program," said Walter Roessger, president of SEMI Europe. "The work conducted in developing these consensus specifications is vital to the health and development of our industry. SEMI is grateful to Mr. Longford for his contribution and commitment to the standards program."

Longford is director of PandA Europe, a technical consultancy company. He is involved in a number of European programs for MEMS packaging and has published numerous technical papers related to chip packaging technology. He has been chairman of the SEMI Europe Test, Assembly and Packaging Standards Committee since 1994 and has co-chaired the European Regional Standards Committee since 1997.

Founded in 1998, PandA Europe is an independent consulting group that specializes in chip packaging, electronic interconnect technologies, semiconductor “reverse engineering”, and intellectual property management.

The SEMI International Standards Program, established in 1973, covers all aspects of semiconductor process equipment and materials, from wafer manufacturing to test, assembly and packaging, in addition to the manufacture of flat panel displays and micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS).
