SESTG Executive Committee Officers Elected
On July 7, 2009, SEMI announced the results of the Secondary Equipment Services and Technology Group (SESTG) officer elections. Newly elected officials include new committee Chairman Eduard Hoeberichts, CEO of SIMAX Global Services; Vice Chairman Tim Tobin, president and CEO of Entrepix; and Executive Officer Bruce Kim, CEO of SurplusGLOBAL. The officers represent a diverse set of interests, as well as three major semiconductor producing regions around the world—the U.S., Europe and Asia.
SESTG has its roots in the Surplus Equipment Consortium (SEC/N) which was acquired by SEMI in October of 2008 to more effectively support and proactively guide the global secondary market for semiconductor equipment and related services through resource consolidation and focused leadership.
“Over the past years, we have seen a significant shift in industry dynamics for 200mm and older generation fabs, with very different requirements than for new 300mm fabs. This has led to an increase in interest for the secondary equipment market and supporting services, as existing equipment is increasingly used for new applications,” said Eduard Hoeberichts, chairman of SESTG. “The special interest group will play an increasingly important role in the industry by developing a worldwide program to support users of and service providers for this equipment, helping them to reduce costs and risk while enabling innovation and value-added services.”
SESTG will continue and expand upon SEC/N’s original mission by representing and promoting the best interests of reputable buyers, sellers and service providers of secondhand equipment, services and technology.
