SEMI Opens Visitor Registration for SEMICON Japan 2008

Exhibition to be Held December 3-5, 2008, at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan

TOKYO, Japan – October 6, 2008 – SEMI today announced that visitor registration for SEMICON Japan 2008, an international exhibition of semiconductor equipment and materials, is now open at www.semiconjapan.org. The exhibition will be held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba on December 3-5. The exposition will mark its 32nd anniversary, and is expected to host about 1,500 companies, occupying nearly 4,500 exhibition booths.

"SEMICON Japan has long been the most important exposition of its kind in the globe. Visitors will enjoy discovering a lot of new products and technologies aimed at advancing the semiconductor and related industries, as well as enhancing global networking,” said Hank Nakagawa, president of SEMI Japan. “At this year’s exposition, distinguished speakers from semiconductor device and equipment manufacturers are invited to the opening keynote speech. STS, SEMI Technology Seminar, concurrently held during the SEMICON Japan, will also provide variety of valuable information that is significant to the success of the industry at global level."

SEMICON Japan will focus on equipment and components in the front-end processes, related facilities and materials, end-to-end composites across the front-end and post-processes, and equipment, facilities, components, and materials in the post-end processes. New to the event this year will be the addition of “Real Machines and Demonstrations,” which provide attendees with an excellent opportunity to see real-time demonstrations and a level of information only available at SEMICON Japan.

The Innovation Hall at SEMICON Japan 2008 will house the “SEMI Special Feature Zone,” which includes exhibits focusing on robots and automobiles, as well other emerging technologies. The Special Feature Zone theme will be “Sustainability Carried out by Mobile Control Technology,” and will be located in the Event Hall of Makuhari Messe again this year. The hall will consist of five pavilions including MEMS, Nanotechnology, Organic Semiconductor, etc... In addition, stages will be set up for the Special Seminars associated with each pavilion, and for exhibits and technical presentations from exhibitors.

The SEMI Technology Symposium (STS) 2008 will be held concurrently with SEMICON Japan at the International Conference Hall in Makuhari Messe. STS is the biggest symposium from SEMI, and provides a forum for device manufacturers and equipment and materials suppliers from around the world to provide their perspectives on technology trends, technical issues, and practical technologies around the semiconductor process/device technologies by first-line engineers. It will mark its 27th anniversary this year.

In addition, International Standards, one of the most important activities at SEMI, is celebrating 35 years of service to the industry. SEMICON Japan will house more than 50 Standards meetings, as well as over 10 programs providing explanations of current standards and related technical information.

Additional information about SEMICON Japan 2008 exhibition and programs is available on the SEMI Website at www.semiconjapan.org. Attendee registration for co-sponsored events at SEMICON Japan is also available at the SEMICON Japan 2008 Web site.
