Korea Members Meet to Learn, Plan and Share

Over 100 individuals from 88 companies attended the 2008 Korea SEMI Members Day on September 24 at the COEX Convention Center in Seoul, Korea. The purpose of the event was to keep Korea SEMI members informed of the association’s programs, services and initiatives, and receive input on future directions for SEMI in Korea.

“Our members in Korea are extremely proud to be a part of the global SEMI organization and want to understand the full scope of industry activities that are occurring throughout the world” said HD Cho, President, SEMI Korea. “The Members Day is a quick, convenient and enjoyable way to keep our members informed and get their feedback on important industry issues.”

Richard W. Hong, president, KLA-Tencor, spoke on global leadership.

Kicking off the day was a welcome speech by JC Kim, president and CEO of Edwards Korea, and vice chairman of the SEMI Board of Directors. Kim urged the attendees to get involved in SEMI activities, saying “the more you put into SEMI, the more you will get out.”

In-Sang Lim, Chairman of ASML Korea said, "We are pleased to see many value-added programs provided by SEMI in recent days. I think most SEMI Korea members enjoyed today’s program. It was not only very informative in conducting current business but also grasping future trends."

In addition, four working groups for semiconductor standards were established and they actively participate in SEMI standards activities.

A PV Advisory Committee has been established with industry leaders from all sectors participating and SEMICON Korea continues to grow and be a vital center of industry progress in the region. In 2009, the inaugural SOLARCON Korea will be held in conjunction with SEMICON Korea. It will be the industry’s first major solar event in the country.
