PV Takes Center Stage at SEMI Events Worldwide

2008 will be a year of truth for PV. The Asian market will be opening up with strong market support programs in India and Korea. Feedstock production will increase by 40%, and many new players are scheduled to come online—the first year still with moderate capacities.

  • SEMICON Korea (January 30–February 1), half-day conference.
  • Standards Spring Event in Brussels (March 5–7).
  • From March 9 to 11, SEMI holds its second PV Fab Managers Forum, At SEMICON China (March 18–20) a PV Pavilion puts the spotlights on PV. On March 19, the “International Photovoltaic Technology Conference” will share views on the PV technology trends in China. More info at www.semi.org/semiconchina.

  • Singapore, one of the strong economies of Pacific Asia, is flexing its manufacturing muscles for PV. During SEMICON Singapore, the conference includes informing the PV community of the potential of this region as a market and as a manufacturing region. More info at

  • At SEMICON Russia (June 2–4), we will organize our third PV Conference, where we typically focus on the ongoing projects in the CIS region. At the exhibition, attendees will be able to meet the CIS PV community. More information is available at www.semiconrussia.org.
  • During SEMICON West, SEMI is partnering with Intersolar to create the major PV exhibition in the U.S., co-located with SEMICON West at the Moscone Center, San Francisco (California, U.S.). More info at www.semiconwest.org.
  • PVJapan 2008 is a vertical integrated exhibition at Tokyo Big Sight (July 30–August 1), a joined initiative of JPEA and SEMI.
