SEMI - Communities

About SEMI Communities

Since its inception, SEMI has been honored to host various groups in all facets of our industry, from standards to business to groups focused on specific technology applications. Regional technical communities advise SEMI on program content, public policy issues, technology issues, industry segment priorities and other areas. These groups may meet periodically and/or provide guidance on important issues and sometimes they create an online forum to share ideas and work towards common goals.

The following links provide additional information on several special interest groups, manufacturer groups, advisory bodies, and other communities.

Equipment Suppliers Group (ESG)
The Global Equipment Suppliers Group (GESG) has been formed to address critical technology and business issues that affect the semiconductor industry. The mission of this new special interest group is to maintain a forum for equipment suppliers to address issues facing the industry and to develop an organized global voice to influence technology roadmaps, device maker and foundry planning, supply chain collaboration, and related issues (Read more).

North America SEMI Sales and Marketing Council (SSMC)
The SEMI Sales and Marketing Council – North America (SSMC), provides advice and guidance to SEMI on new product development, product and service quality, and member communications in North America, as well as manage specific SEMI affiliated programs. The Council’s primary objective is to improve and enhance member value and member satisfaction.

Chemical and Gases Manufacturers Group (CGMG)
To facilitate collective efforts on issues related to chemical and gas supplies to the semiconductor, display and PV industries, the Chemical and Gases Manufacturing Group (CGMG) provides SEMI advice, council and direction on market research activities, program content in SEMICON events, EHS regulatory issues and other issues.

Silicon Manufacturers Group
The Silicon Manufacturer's Group is a special interest group of SEMI® members who produce polycrystalline silicon, monocrystalline silicon or silicon wafers (e.g., as cut, polished, epi, etc.) including both reclaimed or reworked wafers as well as silicon-on-insulator (SOI) wafers.

Collaborative Alliance for Semiconductor Test (CAST)
CAST was formed in 2008 by semiconductor device makers and test industry suppliers to engage in and resolve common industry issues related to higher test equipment utilization, lower costs, and greater standardization and return on test-related R&D.
