Applied Materials Display group PECVD Applications lab tour and Road to Flexible Displays Update.
The 90 minutes presentation will include a display industry update explaining the roadmap for flexible displays, from rigid -> bendable -> rollable -> foldab
What is happening with the technology today to realize the Flexible displays of the future? Review the Roll to roll technology platforms already available from Applied Materials including the CVD and Smartweb R2R platforms. The manufacturing challenge associated with the high volume production of flexible displays is centered around the thin film transistor (TFT) backplane, where thousands of thin film transistors are required to actively control the output of each pixel. The SmartWeb platform is ideally suited for the deposition of the source, gate and drain metallization layers employed in these devices. CVD R2R tool meets the critical requirements for high performance barrier films processing at scale to bring barrier solutions to enable the emerging flexible display and electronics market. Finally a tour of the PECVD Applications lab to see some of the equipment today that is enabling OLED (Organic Light emitting diode) that is the key driver to enable flexible display technology.
