From the SEMI® Europe President
Ready to Grow I would like to report significant progress in our industry's lobbying efforts the recent article published in the Handelsblatt with European Commission VP Guenther Verheugen. The article clearly mirrors the main points of the SEMI White Paper released in October 2008, specifically our industry's concern related to subsidizing research, the need for a global level playing field, the importance of key enabling technologies such as semiconductors, and the negative impact of regulations such as the limit of subsidies allowed for manufacturing under European regulation. PV Supply Chain: Q2 Revenues Rebound but Margins Fall By Ross Young, president, Young Market Research After falling 44% from Q3'08 to Q1'09, revenues rebounded sequentially in the photovoltaic (PV) supply chain in Q2'09. Q3'09 looks promising on seasonal strength and lower costs and prices, but the gains are not shared by all segments, regions or companies.
Fab Forecast Preview Webcast: Evolution of the Semiconductor Industry Hear a preview of key findings from the upcoming World Fab Forecast report set to release mid-November 2009 and the latest materials market data. Ask our analysts questions during this one-hour Webinar.
Reduced Manufacturing Cost for HB LEDs Opens Doors for Equipment Makers Why is Solid State Lighting (SSL) so important to semiconductor equipment and material suppliers? The need for saving energy will propel SSL into a huge market ... but only if the cost of those bright white LEDs can be reduced to the range of a normal lightbulb.
Growing Asia MEMS Industry Highlighted at SEMICON Taiwan The first Taiwan MEMS Forum, held in conjunction with last week's SEMICON Taiwan, provided over 200 attendees with expert insight into the market trends, regional research activities, application developments, and production solutions in the growing MEMS industry.
