 The Challenges Ahead
Navigating the industry these days is not for the faint hearted. It's rough. We need every available weapon at our disposal as we hunt for growth.
The SEMI Europe team is working closely with its supporting committees and manufacturing and R&D organizations to develop SEMICON Europa 2009 programs that map to the specific needs of the European Semiconductor Industry in the current environment.
Plans are developed for: Fab Enhancement and 450 mm, MEMS / MST, Advanced Packaging and Advanced Testing, Management and Executive Programs (including the traditional Market Briefing and Executive Summit panel discussion), and Industry Standards.
I look forward to seeing you at SEMICON Europa 6-8 October, held for the first time in Dresden.

The Battle of the Fantastic Six: Increased Fab Spending in 2010

SEMI's World Fab Forecast predicts 64% growth in fab spending for 2010 to reach $24 billion. A large portion (about $14 billion) comes from a handful of companies, the "Fantastic Six," that have announced ambitious investment plans.
Allen Lu Named President of SEMI China
Allen Lu, Ph.D. has been appointed the president of SEMI China. Lu assumes responsibility for the association's programs, products and services in China. He will oversee relationships with SEMI members, government and academia in the region.
Industry Forecast: Positive Vibrations
On August 19, three top industry analysts confirmed the recent impression that the global semiconductor downturn has passed the low point and begun its rebound. Bill McClean (IC Insights), Dean Freeman (Gartner), and John Housley (Techcet) discussed the evidence.
