Solar Policy in the U.S. The U.S. government is actively implementing the provisions of the economic stimulus bill with two recent announcements favorable to the solar/PV industry. SEMI member companies are encouraged to
review the details of these two new programs and determine if they are eligible:
Manufacturing Tax Credit (MTC) and grant in lieu of the Investment Tax Credit (ITC)...

The Battle of the Fantastic Six: Increased Fab Spending in 2010 By Christian Gregor Dieseldorff, SEMI Industry Research and Statistics SEMI's World Fab Forecast predicts 64% growth in fab spending for 2010 to reach $24 billion. A large portion (about $14 billion) comes from a handful of companies, the "Fantastic Six," that have announced ambitious investment plans.
Allen Lu Named President of SEMI China Allen Lu, Ph.D. has been appointed the president of SEMI China. Lu assumes responsibility for the association's programs, products and services in China. He will oversee relationships with SEMI members, government and academia in the region.
Industry Forecast: Positive Vibrations On August 19, three top industry analysts confirmed the recent impression that the global semiconductor downturn has passed the low point and begun its rebound. Bill McClean (IC Insights), Dean Freeman (Gartner), and John Housley (Techcet) discussed the evidence.
