PV Industry at a Transition Point
Dan Martin Executive VP, Photovoltaics
The PV industry is currently at a transition point as uncontrolled growth has slowed down, but technological developments continue. Now more than ever clear requirements must be defined for today, a year from now, and 5 years from now and these requirements are best developed through technology roadmaps.
Many roadmaps already exist for PV, but they may not have extracted sufficient detail on key players, equipment or materials suppliers or the requirements for their products. Information is needed on expected quality levels, accuracies, dimensions and volumes. This is the value of a comprehensive roadmap. In addition, standards must play an integral part of this process, which is typical for a maturing industry.
We invite you to listen to Dr. Winfried Hoffmann, VP and CTO Energy and Environmental Solutions, Applied Materials and President of EPIA, share his vision to drive down manufacturing costs through scaling, and by using smart manufacturing techniques in order to eliminate unnecessary steps, and/or reduce the amount of materials required. Dr. Hoffman will present at the 5th SMET Advanced PV Technology Conference during Intersolar Munich (May 27-29).
We also invite you to
share your vision of the future of PV with us. Together we can brave this transition point and create a bright future.
