SEMI Launches Electronic Forum for PV EHS Information Exchange In response to the need for global EHS information exchange within the PV industry, SEMI recently launched an electronic web-based forum for the exchange of PV EHS knowledge and information. In the October EHS Advantage, I talked about critical EHS issues, including the growth of the Photovoltaic (PV) manufacturing industry and related EHS risks. As the PV manufacturing industry expands, and novel processes and manufacturing techniques and equipment are brought on line, associated EHS issues escalate at a logarithmic rate. From silane safety— to equipment design, installation and commissioning— to abatement and control of emissions, many EHS issues that were previously resolved by the semiconductor industry are resurfacing at PV manufacturers.
