Third Quarter 2006 Equipment and Materials Update

2006 has so far proven to be a very healthy growth year in terms of semiconductor unit demand. Silicon wafer shipments remain at record levels. Equipment bookings, however, are beginning to slow.

China on a Mission to Build More 300 mm Semiconductor Fabs

SEMI Urges WTO Members to Adhere to Information Technology Agreement
The ITA signed by 68 countries provides tariff-free treatment for an estimated 90 percent of global trade in high-tech goods, including semiconductor manufacturing equipment.  Some countries are reclassifying products to apply tariffs.
