2012 Taiwan & South East Asia Semiconductor and LED Market Update
- Date: March 21 2012 (Wednesday), 2:30-3:30PM
- Venue: SEMICON China 2012, Shanghai New International Exhibition Centre (SNIEC)
Taiwan has long been a leading region of semiconductor and IC Design market. Its IC design service contributed 21% of global revenue in 2010 and IC design revenue is expected to reach US$15.1 billion in 2011. Meanwhile, with the rising demand for advanced nodes, 3DIC, and copper wire transition, the investment momentum shall continue into 2012 from foundries and OSAT such as TSMC, UMC, ASE and SPIL. We expect Taiwan to invest about US$7B in capital equipment in 2012. Taiwan is expected to exceed US$10.5B in 2012 for materials spending. For LED segment, capacity expansion is expected to continue. Taiwan LED epi/chip makers are expected to invest about US$500M to their facilities in Taiwan and China this year.
